The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier originated as an Irish Farm dog, but their wonderful temperaments make them perfect for nearly any home. Full of confidence and humour, Soft Coated Wheaten's possess wonderful personalities and are an affectionate and intelligent companion for people of all ages.
Wheatens are wonderfully calm with children, and make the perfect family dog. They are by no means "fragile" and are able to play happily with children of all ages, but nor are they so large as to make them difficult for a child to control.Wheatens are also particuarly suitable for elderly people.
Their wonderful dispositions make them great companions and they are easy to care for - they need only 5 to 10 minutes brushing a day. All in all, Wheaten's suit any style of living. They are perfectly happy either in a rural, urban or suburban environment, and, provided they are walked regularly, will be calm, happy friends.
